Performing classical songs in different ways

I am so proud of my singing students at Bromma Folkhögskola! Yesterday they did a wonderful performance...

...of classical songs from the romantic era as a first concert project of the school year. My goal with the project was to discover the inner drama of each song by working with questions as who you are, where you come from, why you are here and where you are going?
The result was amazing! The students made different improvised stories out of their given songs, and it was a privilege for me linking each drama and song together with another into a full performance! The concert/performance was called "Romance at a buss stop - a meeting on the way", and included songs by Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Giulio Caccini, Jean Sibelius, Franz Schubert, Gustaf Nordqvist, Roger Quilter, Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saëns, Fernando Obradors and Francis Poulenc.

The best feedback from the audience was the "positive experience of classical music in this way of performing" and "the feeling of a relaxed classical concert"!
