St John Passion by heart

Hannah Holgersson at Gustavsbergs kyrka

With drama and emotion St John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach was performed...

yesterday in Gustavsbergs kyrka.
Conductor Stefan Själander created and staged together with director Elin Norin a  passionate performance of the Passion drama in the version of St John.

In my character as the disciple John, it was in a way easier to sing and approach the soprano arias Ich folge dir and Zerfliesse, since they express the will of following Christ and later on the lamentation at the cross. These beautiful and heartful arias were, as everything else, sung in Swedish (translation by Ragnar Holte and Gudrun Zethelius) and got in that way closer both to the performers as well as to the audience.

My warmest thanks to all involved on stage and back stage for a strong and soulful St John Passion!
